• How long does it take to register a business name?

  Your business name will be instantly reserved at the time of registration and typically approved immediately after. There are some circumstances in which a manual review process is required and this can take up to a few days.

• Why do I need a business name?

  Registering a business name allows you to operate and trade under a different name to that of your own. It is a legal requirement to have the name registered if you wish to legally trade under it.

• What is a registered business name?

  The registration of a business name in Australia allows an entity or individual to trade under a name different to that of their legal name.

• How do I find out if the business name I want is available?

• Will I receive a business name certificate with my registration?

  Yes, all business name registrations and renewals receive a digital email copy of their ASIC Certificate once processed.

• How much does it cost to register a business name?

  Our business name pricing is $99 for 1 year and $189 for 3 years.

• What do I need in order to register a business name?

  Firstly the name must be available to register and you must have an active ABN (Australian Business Number). If you don't have one yet, please contact us to assist with the registration.

• When do I need to renew my business name?

  Business names can be registered or renewed for 1 or 3 years at a time. We will notify you prior to the expiry of your name to ensure you don't forget to renew on time.

• How early can I renew my business name if I wanted to?

  Registry Australia accepts payment for the renewal of your business name up to 60 days prior to its expiry and our system automatically renews the name once it falls within the renewal period 30 days prior to expiry.
